# Verify your install

> Confirm that Highseat receives your site's page views in Installation settings, and what to check when nothing arrives.

## Check in the dashboard

Deploy the install, then open any page of your site in a browser. **Site settings › Installation** in the dashboard waits for the first page view and turns green when it lands, usually within seconds. It shows where the first visitor came from.

Highseat counts only your site's domain and its subdomains. A visit from `localhost` reaches Highseat but is not counted, and the card says your snippet works locally. Visits from another host, such as a preview deploy, are not counted either: the card names the host, and offers to count it when it belongs to you.

## When nothing arrives

After a minute without a page view, the card lists the three causes of almost every stalled install:

* The tag is inside `<head>` on every page, not only the home page.
* The page you opened runs on your site's domain or one of its subdomains.
* Your own ad blocker is off for your site. A private window works too.

With the `highseat` package, check the browser console. In development the package logs every `track()` call, and warns when the page has no tracker script or the script failed to load. Pass `debug` to `<Highseat />` to get the same logs from a production build.

## Read the event response

In your browser's developer tools, open the Network tab and find the `POST` request to `cdn.highseat.com/api/event`. Its status says what happened to the events:

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `200` | Received. `accepted` in the body counts the events stored. `0` means each one was filtered: a bot, or an IP address or path your site excludes. |
| `202` | Received and dropped: the workspace's trial or plan ended more than 14 days ago, so it stores no events. Choose a plan in the workspace's billing settings. |
| `400` | The request carried no valid event. |
| `401` | The site id is missing or unknown. Compare `data-site` with the id in Installation settings. |
| `403` | The page's host is not your site's domain, such as `localhost`. |
| `413` | The request held more than 25 events, or a body larger than 512 KB. |
| `429` | Too many requests from one address in one second. |
| `503` | Highseat could not store the events for a moment. The tracker retries. |

A `200` alone does not prove a stored event: read `accepted`.
